Vintage Squares Quilt Timeline
Started: February 4, 2017
February 4, 2017: I love, love, love vintage sheet quilts, they are soooo cheerful! But I’m stubborn about wanting to use only 100% cotton fabrics and most vintage sheets are a cotton/poly blend. At least from the era that has the “sunshiney” colors. So I go to the local quilt shop and hunt for every fabric I can find that says “vintage sheet” to me and bring them home.
November 13, 2017: It’s been a long crazy year with my Mom’s passing and the start of the 1,000 Baby Quilts project, but I make a final fabric selection when going through my stash.
February 10, 2018: All the fabrics are cut and ready to be put into a layout.
February 27, 2018: I start fiddling around with layout ideas. I do a lot of fabric swapping in and out and make it way more complicated than necessary.
March 24, 2018: Finally the complete layout is nailed down and stacked for assembly.
May 16, 2018: Rough assembly is done!
July 7, 2018: I finished the quilt top but then had to take time to work on client projects, the Memorial Boho Squares Quilt and the Little Girl's Boho Squares Quilt, but now it’s a floor-work day and I have time left to pin this quilt!
August 25, 2018: I’ve finished the straight-line part of the quilting, but now have to do the free-motion part which I always dread.
May 12, 2019: I finally face facts: I’m going to have to either do the free motion or give up on my quilting idea, and I don’t want to give up. So I set my machine up and do the free motion. As usual, it works out fine.
May 17, 2019: I put the binding on and the Vintage Squares Quilt is finished!
