Primary Colors Supersize Churn Dash Quilt Timeline
Started: February 1, 2014
Finished: October 10, 2014 (Top Only)
February 1, 2014: A while back a friend of mine gave me a ton of fabric when she moved out of state. In the batch I found a bunch of rectangles and triangles that I immediately think are perfect for a churn dash. A big one, but a colorful one in the primary palette she loves. I am making it for her as a surprise. I make one block to start with to see if it’s going to work. It works!!
February 2, 2014: I make several more blocks. It’s quite addicting and fun to pair up the colors. For some blocks I include a four-patch in the center to use up spare bits of fabric.
February 21, 2014: Most of the blocks are done now, just a few to go!
April 5, 2014: Final push, assembly-line sewing to finish all the blocks.
April 8, 2014: I start putting blocks up on the design wall so I can lay them out. My wall is only big enough for a twin and this will be a queen so it’s tricky but I think I can manage.
October 10, 2014: I took some time to work on other things (the primary color palette isn’t my cup of tea), but I finally get it assembled and shipped off to my friend. To save on postage she’s requested the top only, so the Primary Colors Supersize Churn Dash Quilt is done!
