Big Dipper Quilt Timeline
Started: May 15, 2007
May 15, 2007: I finally find the perfect quilt for my son! Easy and fun and stars and cowboy colors, just what I wanted.
May 19, 2007: Fabric is pulled, gathered and otherwise selected and the cutting begins. The pattern uses a wonky star with a stack-and-shuffle technique. This particular one uses a freezer-paper-pattern, but you can easily make your own.
May 29, 2007: The first block is finished, making sure I understand how the blocks to together. Then everything is packed for our move to our new home.
February 26, 2008: The blocks are unpacked after the move and work begins again.
December 23, 2008: Center stars are assembled, working on adding corners to make secondary pattern. But then have a baby and everything gets put on hold for a couple of years. Then other UFOs and Christmas presents take precedence, and by the time this quilt comes out of storage again, my son isn’t interested in red/blue anymore but prefers green.
February 25, 2014: I give away this quilt to a friend as an effort to reduce the number of UFO’s.
August 4, 2016: It’s really bugging me that I never finished this quilt — I hate unfinished things! I ask my friend if she’s gotten it done and she hasn’t either, so I have her bring it back so I can finish it for her as a gift.
